Optimist Earth Day
Optimist Clubs around the world are encouraged to celebrate the first annual Optimist Earth Day on June 7, 2008, in connection with World Environmental Awareness Week. What better way is there to show our support for our youth than taking care of the world around them?
"Green" projects can be as simple as planting a tree, recycling paper, or forming a carpool. You'll really get noticed when you invite others to join in your cause. You can customize this flyer to help announce your Optimist Earth Day Activity. And please, leave a comment here to let us know what you have planned. (Caution: flyer has a great picture, so it's slow to download! Sorry.)

Progress in New Meadows, Idaho
Jeff Luff, McCall Optimist Club and Rocky Jackson, Jerome Optimist Club are working on a new club in New Meadows. After two meetings, and plenty of person-to-person contacts, there are 16 new optimists ready and waiting to finish the job and get started on community projects. New Meadows is a small town outside of McCall, situated for heavy growth in the coming years as Tamarack Resort is completed. If you know of someone in the area that wants to join, please have them call Jeff at 208.347.3674. Jeff lives in New Meadows and can't wait to have a club right here at home!
After three meetings in New Meadows, Idaho, this group is very close to requesting a field rep for their official organizational meeting. They've chosen the name Meadow Valley Optimist Club to recognize both old and new districts in the community.
Way to go Meadow Valley!
