What a great time we had at the PNW District Meeting on October 27-28! NCB Chair Ed Murphy collected nine new club building commitements for our District. That means we have the potential to add 225+ members and share our programs and excitement with thousands more children. Keep up the great work!
Kudos to Pacific Northwest, Research Idaho and the creator(s) of Newoptimistclub.com! You have done yeoman work here. (Anytime you tire of your cold, clammy clime, you are welcome to join us in savoring the balmy breezes of Houston). A short story on NCB: On the 28TH day of September, our 2005-06 Governor, Beverly Cordray, decided to visit Cleveland, Texas -a community we had earlier started to build in, (just when Hurriane Rita chose to "de-build"). One of Beverly's prospects referred her to a city councilwoman who "might be interested". Beverly couldn't help but think "yeah, sure", at the obvious brush-off, but she made the contact near the end of the day.Turns out that councilwoman headed a newly-formed task force of 30 community volunteers interested in providing organized programs for at-risk students. They were about to call service organizations in the Houston area for ideas. After Bev talked "Optimist" to this lady, the Optimist Club of Cleveland, Texas was chartered on September 30, 2006! Never give up! Never! Never! Never!
Poulsbo WA is in need of New Optimists Wanted. We have a small group of Optimists ready to go to work and start some projects. We will be starting a few projects in the next month or so, but we need more members to get chartered and be official. If you know of anyone in this area (North Kitsap County) please have them contact us to get involved.
